Following an extensive and thorough appointment process, St John Ambulance Cymru are happy to announce that in June 2023, Paul Griffiths OBE CStJ shall become the new Prior for Wales.
Paul Griffiths will replace our current Prior, Sir Paul Williams, OBE, KStJ, DL, when he departs at the end of his term this summer.
Paul Griffiths joined the Gwent Council for St John Ambulance Cymru in 2016 and became Chair in 2017. His commitment to serving the communities in Wales is evident, through his 29 years of public service in the Police. Paul brings with him extensive board experience, and a large history of commitment to various charitable causes.
Paul describes one aspect of the charity that he was especially drawn to:
“the drive to help people at times of crisis and distress, when the people of Wales are most in need.”
Paul truly believes in and is inspired by St John Ambulance Cymru’s mission; to save lives and enhance the health and well-being in the communities of Wales.
Paul’s history, serving the community, shows that his values strongly align to that of St John Ambulance Cymru. He looks forward to motivating and energising our people.
“I want to do my bit to help the organisation go from strength to strength,” he says.
“I’m looking forward to working with fantastic people who are all focussed on the same aim; to help those in need”.
Over the coming months Paul will take on the role as Prior-elect, working alongside Sir Paul Williams, to ensure a smooth handover process, until he is invested as Prior for Wales at the annual investiture on the 3rd June.
